Unusual splitting of the spectrum of collective modes in superfluid 3He-B
The observed six-fold splitting of the spectrum of collective modes with / = 2 in a magnetic field, instead of the expected (2J + l)-fold splitting, is explained by textural effects. The dependence found for the additional splitting of the central line with Jz = 0 on the texture of the order parameter can be used to identify vortex textures in rotating 3He-B.
