Instability and self-focusing of solitons in the boundary layer
It is demonstrated both analytically and numerically that in the limit of small viscosity the instability of one-dimensional long-wave soli tons in the boundary layer results in their self-focusing and collapse. Theoretical predictions are in a qualitative agreement with the experiment! [1].
