Nuclear spin relaxation via dipolar interaction in two-dimensional electron gas
The nuclear spin-lattice relaxation in the two-dimensional eletron gas under quantizing magnetic fields is considered. We show that contrary to the case of three-dimensional conductors and two-dimensional systems with sufficient amount of disorder, where the hyperfine contact interaction is operative in the relaxation of the nuclear spins, in sufficiently pure two-dimensional systems the dipole-dipole interaction between the nuclear and the conduction electron spins can be the leading mechanism for the nuclear spin relaxation.
