Optical pulsecollapse in defocusing active medium
Wt study a phase-gradient mechanism of a pulse compression in the Ken-lens mode locking laser systems that can be described by the complex Ginzburg-Landau equation. We have found that pulse collapse occurs m a defocusmg gain medium contrary to the collapse arrest in a focusing active media.
